Sothea Thang was born in Kompong Cham Province, Cambodia, in 1983. He works and lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He is a self-taught artist who began to paint in 2009.

He graduated from Norton University with a Bachelor Degree of Architecture and Urban Planning and was previously working in an architectural agency in Phnom Penh (2007-2010). In 2011, he opened his own studio-gallery (Top Art Gallery) in Phnom Penh and also continues to work as a freelance architect.
